Executel Launches intouch Brand
By Tim Price, MD of Executel Ltd

In recent years, the communications landscape and office environment have changed dramatically. We have evolved from the nine to five desk with a PC and a landline to a multitude of personal communication devices and applications containing countless contact numbers and address details.

We now find ourselves floundering in a sea of options for person-to-person communication and almost without exception none are integrated with one another, thereby ironically increasing the odds of missing the person we are trying to reach. Rather than providing us with a communications nirvana, the sheer number of options is beginning to hinder businesses, making it harder to respond in a timely manner which in turn is significantly affecting customer confidence.

This communication overload is actually slowing down business processes and in some cases even driving customers away. It’s therefore clear that contacting the right person with the right information at the right time is critical to both yours and my business operations.

Fast, efficient communications lie at the heart of every company. They are the lynch-pin between you, your colleagues, your clients and your suppliers. However, ‘off the shelf’ doesn’t always deliver the tools you need so with this in mind we have created intouch – a wide range of quality communications solutions from world leading suppliers that help you keep in touch with those that matter.

intouch is designed to help your business communicate with whoever you want, from wherever you want, using whichever device you want and encompasses voice, video, data, mobility, connectivity and a host of leading-edge business applications that together can provide you with significant advantage over your competitors.

intouch is not a pre-packaged product. It's not a single solution that you and your business have to adapt to. It's simply a framework that enables us to build a tailored solution that reflects your existing processes and integrates with the applications you already have in place. Therefore, instead of communications being fragmented and frustrating they become a cohesive whole.

Do Business Anytime, Anywhere
We are currently entering a new era in communications – the era of Unified Communications (UC). Using UC technologies, we can knit together and ‘unify’ the splintered services and applications that you currently use into a single user-friendly interface residing on the desktop or mobile device, thus simplifying and streamlining the communications flow.

Your day-to-day business communications can all be managed from your laptop/PC/mobile device and the applications with which you are familiar can interact with each other. For instance, you can make calls with a click of your mouse, hold face-to-face meetings at your desk using multi-party video conferencing, dial in remotely and have emails read to you, reply to emails, check diary entries, book appointments and invite attendees all using simple voice commands.

Add to that the introduction of presence information and you have everything you need to communicate effectively using a single device. Presence enables you to check the availability of a colleague before attempting to contact them, thus significantly reducing voicemail tag and wasted time on unanswered calls. Furthermore, an extension of this is collaboration i.e. the ability to quickly establish contact with partners and colleagues and review/edit documents together online in real-time regardless of location.

As many of you will know, UC is the latest phenomenon to hit the communications world and as such presents us with an ideal opportunity to explore new ground and in turn maintain our position at the forefront of the industry. As with every new chapter in our development, we have done our homework and are currently working hard behind the scenes to ensure we build the knowledge and skills needed to support you, our customers.

Executel Steps up a Gear with ASTRUM
Further growth for County Durham-based ASTRUM (UK) Ltd has sparked fresh contract joy for Executel.

Following the management buyout of William Cook Defence Ltd and William Cook Intermodal Ltd in late 2006, manufacturing giant ASTRUM has seen a 20% increase in turnover. As a result of this success, the company has invested in a state-of-the-art communications infrastructure for its head office in Stanhope in order to better serve its customer needs.

Representing an investment nearing £20k, Executel’s telephony solution has provided a future-proof and reliable IP backbone from which ASTRUM can grow its voice and data network as the company continues to expand and evolve. PC-based softphones have also been deployed thus enabling remote workers to connect to the corporate voice and data network regardless of their location.

Of the contract win, Stephen McNickle, Executel account manager said: “The incredible business success and subsequent expansion that ASTRUM has experienced in recent years had resulted in the need for a flexible communications platform which can accommodate growth. We have therefore provided the firm with a scalable solution which can be adapted and extended to suit future needs.

"ASTRUM has built itself an excellent reputation in the North East over the past 60 years and we are delighted to have contributed to its ongoing success by providing the technology needed to help drive the business forward.”

Mike Orchard, purchasing manager for the firm, added: “Executel’s communications solution has proved a good fit for Astrum. It has simplified communication both for those working within the business and for employees operating off site. It also gives us growth capacity for further expansion.”

Janine Murr, Helpdesk
administrator for Executel
Behind the Scenes...
Executel has not only doubled the size of its Gateshead premises in recent months but also further boosted internal resources with the appointment of a Helpdesk administrator, two Project Coordinators and a Systems Administrator.

Following the creation of Executel’s new intouch brand and the firm’s move into the OCS market, Rachel Cairncross and Lacey Hewison have joined the Projects team, taking responsibility for the meticulous planning and execution of Executel’s ever-increasing number of installations.

Meanwhile, Janine Murr has taken up the position of Helpdesk administrator, handling enquiries and logging faults on behalf of customers. Of her appointment, she said: “I am very much looking forward to a long and challenging career with Executel. As a financially strong company, I believe Executel will provide a stable base in which I can progress both personally and professionally.”

Last but by no means least, Brendan Sykes has become Executel’s new Systems administrator – a role which previously didn’t exist. Brendan has been brought in to oversee the smooth operation of Executel’s bespoke CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system and to streamline internal processes used by the company, thus ensuring maximum productivity among employees and continued high levels of customer service.

Rachel, Lacey, Janine and Brendan have joined the Executel team during a period of significant growth for the firm during which it has more than doubled the size of its headquarters near the Metro Centre to 6,000 sq ft, adding a second product showroom and conferencing space for customers.
